The Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party government has won the trust vote in the 70 member Delhi Assembly. Its confidence motion sailed through easily with the backing of the members of Congress, JD(U) and an independent yesterday. 28 MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party along with seven of Congress, a lone JD(U)member and an independent stood in support of the government. However, 31 members of the BJP and one member of its ally Akali Dal stood against it.
Earlier replying to a debate on the motion of confidence, the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government will take stringent action against anyone corrupt. He said the passage of the Jan Lokpal bill is the most important issue on the agenda of his government.
The election for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly will be held today. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its MLA, M S Dhir for the post of Speaker while senior BJP MLA Jagdish Mukhi will be the party candidate for the post. The session of the Delhi Assembly which began from 1st of this month will conclude on 7th
