AP Govt. to monitor situation following deaths due to Malaria

Andhra Pradesh Government has set up a Cabinet Sub- committee with six ministers to monitor the situation following deaths reported due to Malaria in agency areas and swine flu in the state. Chief Minister K Rosaiah at a high level review meeting held on Sunday night has directed the Group of Ministers to monitor the situation on daily basis. The committee comprises Ministers for Health, Medical Education, Panchayath Raj, Municipal Administration and Tribal Welfare. About 25 special medical teams are being sent to agency areas for an intensive treatment drive. According to official estimations, 7 persons died of Malaria while more than 6,500 cases were reported, majority from north coastal districts since January this year. The state Government has sought 12 lakh bed nets from the centre for distribution in the agency areas. <br/>
