The Andhra Pradesh Government is contemplating to bring a law for curtailing corruption in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (MNREGP). State Rural Development Minister D Manikya Vara Prasad told AIR Correspondent that Andhra Pradesh Social Audit (Punishment of Corrupt Practices) Ordinance, 2011 would be brought in to affect in two weeks. He said this would increase transparency in implementation of the MNREGP. The minister said, special mobile courts would be set up to deal with the MNREGP related corruption cases. The corruption charges found prima-facie during Social Audits would be referred to these Mobile Courts. The guilty would be punished with an imprisonment of a minimum of 3 months and up to 2 years.
