AP Chief Minister launches AIR Karimnagar FM Relay Centre

All India Radio Karimnagar FM Relay Centre was today launched in Andhra Pradesh today. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy formally launched the Karimnagar FM relay centre this noon from Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, All India Radio continues to hold its audience even in the age of mushrooming TV channels. He said the people especially in rural areas are immensely being benefited through All India Radio Programmes. Karimnagar Lok Sabha member P. Prabhakar said the long cherished dream of Karimnagar people has come true with the launch of FM relay centre. Speaking on the occasion, Engineer-in-Chief, Director General of All India Radio, R. Vidyasagar said four more stations including Vijayawada, Mahaboobnagar, Suryapet, and Kadapa will get similar FM facilities soon in the state. Besides setting up a Regional News Unit in Visakhapatnam, 100 watt transmitters would be set up at five other places in the state to relay programmes with improved quality. The Karimnagar centre will relay All India Radio Hyderabad programmes every evening from 5 PM to 11PM through the interim set up of 1 KW transmitter on 102.3 MHz with a 40 kilometer radial distance in Karimnagar town and surrounding areas. With this, about 7.11 lakhs population will get quality programmes of All India Radio.
