In Andhra Pradesh, notification for the bye-elections to Nellore Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly seats has been issued today. Polling will be held on 12th next month. Nominations can be filed between 11 AM and 3 PM daily till 25th this month. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is 28th of this month. The bye-polls were necessitated by the resignation of the Nellore MP and disqualification of MLAs.Meanwhile, Election Commissioner HS Brahma has arrived in Hyderabad this morning to review the poll preparations. Our AIR correspondent reports that following issuance of notification for bye-elections for a Lok Sabha and 18 assembly seats, the process of filing nominations has begun this morning. The Election Commission authorities in the state have also completed major poll preparations in the 12 bye-election bound districts. Meanwhile, Union Home Ministry sanctioned 118 companies of central armed forces for deployment in the bye-election regions and 23 senior bureaucrats have been appointed as poll observers. Besides, 12 Income Tax officials have also been appointed as nodal officers to tackle the huge amount of unaccounted cash being seized from the bye-poll districts. Meanwhile, the Election Commissioner H S Brahma has arrived in Hyderabad this morning on a two day visit to review poll preparations. Meanwhile, major political parties have finalised their candidates to be fielded in the bye-elections and completed first round of campaigning for the bye-polls.
