In Andhra Pradesh, normal life has been crippled in Seemandhra region today due to the bandh called in protest against the state's bifurcation.

Several groups including political parties like Telugu Desam and YSR Congress gave separate bandh calls, opposing the division. Near total shut down is being observed in 13 districts of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions with educational institutions, shops and business establishments remaining closed.

Transport has been the worst hit as the state owned Road Transport Corporation buses confined mainly to depots due to demonstrations, rallies and dharnas held by supporters of united Andhra Pradesh.

Offices and banks are being closed at several places. Several Universities postponed the scheduled examinations.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is set to resign today while several of his cabinet colleagues already put in papers following the Lok Sabha passing the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill yesterday.

He is scheduled to address a press conference this morning and later proceed to the Raj Bhavan. Protesting the state's division, more than a dozen MLAs from Congress party have already sent in their resignations as legislators.
