AP Assembly adjourned over ‘No Trust’ motion

The proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly have been stalled and adjourned for the day on twin issues of no trust motion and statehood for Telangana. The main opposition Telugu Desam Party demanded that their no-confidence motion be taken up for discussion immediately while the Telangana Rastra Samithi members obstructed the proceedings demanding a resolution on Statehood for Telangana. Amidst pandemonium, the house has been repeatedly adjourned initially for a brief period twice and finally for the day. The trouble started as soon as the house met in the morning. Displaying placards and raising slogans, the TDP members thronged the speaker’s podium demanding that their no-trust motion be taken up for discussion immediately. At the same time, the TRS members also rushed to the podium demanding that a resolution on statehood for Telangana be passed in the house. Members of Congress and TDP from Telangana regions also joined them by raising slogans. Amidst uproar, Speaker Manohar adjourned the house for a brief period twice and for the third time adjourned for the day. Meanwhile, the TRS also gave a notice to the Speaker for taking up a No-Confidence motion against the Government on alleged failure on getting statehood for Telangana.
