AP agitation intensifies, TRS President in ICU

In Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Rastra Samithi party cadre and Telangana Students Joint Action Committee today have intensified their agitation demanding statehood for Telangana across the region. With the protests, dharnas and rallies turning violent at some places, police have clamped prohibitory orders in Hyderabad. Violent incidents including stone pelting were reported from several places across the region. Several state Road Transport Corporation buses have been damaged.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, fasting TRS President Chandrasekhara Rao has been shifted to Intensive Care Unit in Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences – NIMS in Hyderabad after his health deteriorated today. However, a team of doctors that is constantly monitoring the health of TRS president has told media a short while ago that Chandrasekhara Rao’s health condition is stable.<br/><br/>Despite the state government urging him to withdraw his ongoing stir, TRS president has refused to give it up till UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi announces a clear-cut statement on the process of separate statehood for Telangana. Security has been tightened at NIMS hospital and at vulnerable places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in view of the heavy inflow of visitors and cadres to see the ailing TRS leader.<br/><br/>
