The Consul General of India in Dubai Anurag Bhushan today unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Consulate office in Dubai. A large number of Indian expatriates were present at the unveiling ceremony. Rich tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation. <br/><br/>The statue of Mahatma Gandhi is about two and a half feet in height and weighs around 10 kgs. Speaking at the ceremony, the Consul General lauded the virtue of peace and Ahimsa espoused by Gandhiji and also announced that efforts will be made to open a Gandhi Centre in the Consulate premises in association with the Karnataka Gandhi Smarak Nidhi soon. <br/><br/>This will be the first of its kind initiative in the Middle East region. The Consulate in Dubai also celebrated the 141st Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel today , popularly known as the Iron Man of India.
