The Defence Minsiter A.K Antony today said that India will have to invest judiciously in its research institutions as starategic thinking is crucial for planning for the future.

He said this while speaking on the the occasion of 48th foundation day of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses- IDSA in New Delhi.

Mr Antony said that various government department has shown interest to work with the IDSA in research areas as the institute is focusing on important policy issues.

The Minister asked the instiute to ensure that the research undertaken by it matches the global standards and the output does not lag behind international standards.

He said, it must strive to function within the framework of its core values of integrity and honesty, innovation and creativity. He said that the institute should also make an effort to encourage young talent and train them in strategic thinking.

Highlighting the activities of IDSA, Mr Antony said that it has taken an initiative to investigate the origin's of India's strategic culture in a systematic manner.
