The Centre said that it is aware that cyber-crime is becoming a major threat to national security. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Defence Minister A K Antony said that Armed forces are bracing to cope up with the challenge. He said that computers and communication systems of the Defence Ministry are procured from recognized original equipment manufacturers companies as per the
procurement procedures of the Government. Mr. Antony said that a Cyber Security Policy 2008 issued by the Ministry is under implementation to strengthen cyber security activities and maintaining of air gaps. The Minister said that cyber security issues are also coordinated by National Security Council Secretariat at the national level.
