Antony rules out use of army against Maoists

Defence Minister A.K Antony has ruled out use of army against Maoists. He said that no military action is contemplated as of now against Maoists who are inflicting heavy attacks on men and material in different parts of the country. However, the Defence Minister said that Para military forces will be assisting state police forces in countering the growing menace of Maoists. Interacting with media in Thiruvananthapuram today, Antony said that the menace needs to be addressed by states in more effective manner. Referring to terrorism emanating from across the border he said that training camps of militant are active in border areas of Pakistan and that country should take concrete efforts to dismantle them.
