Antony dismisses reports about Chinese occupation of Indian territory

Defence Minister A K Antony has dismissed reports about Chinese occupation of Indian territory. In a statement in Parliament today, Quoting the National security board Chairman Shyam Saran's report he said there is no occupation of Indian Territory by China, of denial of access by it to New Delhi to any part of Indian territory.

Mr. Antony said that Mr. Saran, who visited Ladakh early last month, submitted a report on the infrastructure in the region on Monday. The report primarily focuses on border infrastructure besides dealing with several aspects covering broad spectrum of activities and requirements in border areas.

He said government is keeping a constant watch on all developments relating to the country's security and is taking all necessary measures to safeguard it. He also reiterated that the Government will continue to strengthen defence capabilities in border areas to protect national interest.
