Defence Minister A K Antony today dedicated to the nation Indian Coast Guard Ship "Vishwast" at a function held at Goa Shipyard Limited at Vasco in Goa, in the distinguished presence of Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Director General of Indian Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Anil Chopra and officers besides men of the Indian Coast Guard.<br/> Complimenting Goa Shipyard Limited for coming out with the first of the new generation Offshore Patrol Vessels,OPV, Vishwast, the Defence Minister said this will enable the Coast Guard to ensure security of the vast maritime zone of the country. He assured the Coast Guard that his Ministry will spare no pains to provide the entire necessary infrastructure and the manpower. He called upon the coastal state Governments to involve themselves in the security aspect of the vast coastline by also taking into confidence the fisher folk community.<br/> The OPV commissioned today is equipped with the most advanced navigational and communication sensors. The ship is designed to carry one helicopter and five high speed boats for search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, EEZ surveillance, high speed interdiction and marine pollution response missions. The ship can stay at sea for seven days without replenishment.<br/> Later talking to mediamen, the Defence Minister said that since India is one of the important targets of the terrorists, India needs to be vigilant at all times. He expressed happiness that the defence forces of the country are doing a yeomen job in safeguarding the territories of the nation and that the nation will not do any compromise as far as the security and safety are concerned.
