Another UP minister under Lokayukta scanner

In Uttar Pradesh, the Lokayukta Justice NK Mehrotra has issued notice to one more Minister of Mayawati Government on corruption charges. Ambedkar Gram Sabha Development Minister Ratan Lal Ahirwar has been asked by the Lokayukta to file his reply within 15 days on the charges of corruption and amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Lokayukta had sought report from district magistrate Jhansi on the allegation of corruption against the Minister. The preliminary investigation has revealed that there was ground in the charges levelled against Ahirwar accusing him of indulging in corruption and land grabbing. He is MLA from Babina in Jhansi.Besides Ahirwar, several other Ministers from Mayawati Government are also under Lokayukta scanner. They include Energy Minister Ramveer Upadhayaya, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Lalji Verma, Agriculture Minister Laxmi Narayan, Higher Education Minister Rakesh Dhar Tripathi, Horticulture Minister Narayan Singh and Sports Minister Ayodhya Pal.Chief Minister Mayawati has so far sacked four ministers including Rajesh Tripathi, Awadhpal Singh, Rangnath Mishra and Badshah Singh after their indictment by Lokayukta for corruption.Besides, complaints were also pending against 10 MLAs and chairmen of six state owned corporations.
