Annual Plan allocation for Puducherry fixed at Rs 2750 cr

The Annual Plan allocation for Puducherry for the year 2011-2012 has been fixed at 2750 crore rupees. The allocation was finalized at a meeting between Chief Minister of Union Territory N.Rangaswamy and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Aluwalia in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. Rangaswamy told AIR correspondent that the government will give top priority to Education, Heath and Tourism. Earlier, Rangaswamy met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and presented a memorandum seeking special assistance of 3645 crore rupees in addition to the plan allocation for meeting the infrastructural needs of the union territory.
