The annual pilgrimage of Haj begins today with millions of Muslims from across the globe trekking from the holy city of Mecca to assemble at Mina in Saudi Arabia. They will spend the night there and move towards Mount Arafat at dawn tomorrow for the main ritual of Haj reciting prayers. The pilgrims will spend the day at Mount Arafat praying and asking for God's forgiveness. Nearly one lakh seventy thousand pilgrims from India are participating in the five day pilgrimage this year. 1.25 lakh pilgrims from India reached there through the Haj Committee, while around 45,500 through private tour operators.
