<br/>The Annual Akashvani Awards for 2008 will be presented at a glittering function in Chennai this evening. The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr S.Jagatharakshakan will present the awards. Over fifty awards will be presented in various categories including News, Programmes and Technical excellence.<br/><br/>In the News category, the Best Correspondent Award is shared by, V.K.Raina of News Services Division, Delhi and Sunil Shukla, Correspondent, Lucknow. The Best Editor Award has been jointly given to N.Devan, News Services Division and G.C.Dash, News Editor Raipur. The Award in Bold and Courageous reporting category has gone to Jammu Correspondent R.K.Raina. Mir Nazir, of Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir has bagged the Best Part time Correspondent award which has been instituted for the first time. <br/><br/>Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer B.S. Lalli and senior officers of All India Radio will be present at the award ceremony. Various cultural programmes portraying the cultural diversity of the country will be a part of the event.
