Social activist Anna Hazare has been sent to seven days' judicial custody after he refused to sign a personal bond and come out on bail following his arrest today. Briefing Media persons in New Delhi this afternoon, Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta said Mr. Hazare was produced before a Special Executive Magistrate who remanded him to 7 days judicial custody. He said the police was not keen that he should be sent to judicial custody but Mr. Hazare refused to give the undertaking.The Police Commissioner said besides Anna, his supporters including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were also sent to judicial custody on similar grounds. Mr. Gupta said around 14 hundred people have been detained for defying Section 144. Mr Gupta catagorically stated that no lathi or other force was used.Anna Hazare was arrested in the morning on grounds of apprehension of breach of peace following his intention to defy prohibitory orders to go on indefinite fast.
