Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Mrs Ambika Soni has said that an Animation Centre of Excellency is being set up at Mohali in Punjab. The state government has already given 12 acres of land for it. She said in Chandigarh yesterday that the Union cabinet has approved the setting up of the centre. Mrs Soni said that Animation sector has great potential even more than IT sector. It would help to provide employment to Punjab`s youth. Mrs Soni said that Malwa region of Punjab has become cancer ridden belt due to water pollution and central government has increased allocation for health sector in Punjab and neighbouring states to tackle the problem.She said that process of digitalization would be completed by October 31 in four metro citiies and set top box would be installed to give better TV viewing to the people through cable network. She said that date has been extended as the Tamilnadu , West Bengal and Maharashtra had requested that it is not possible to provide set top boxes to the large number of people in the prescribed time.
