Former Indian Test Captain Anil Kumble has stepped down as the Chief Mentor of IPL franchise Mumbai Indians with immediate effect from yesterday. Kumble had been associated with Mumbai Indians since January of 2013. His decision comes after a BCCI crackdown on conflict of interest in the board.Earlier, India team director Ravi Shastri was removed from the IPL Governing Council while Roger Binny was asked to leave selection committee. In a statement, Mumbai Indians thanked Kumble for his contribution.
