Angelique Kerber wins US Open title

In season's final Grand Slam, the US Open, newly-crowned world number one Angelique Kerber of Germany beat Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic to lift the Women's Singles title. In the summit clash played this morning, Kerber trumped Pliskova in a three set match, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to win her maiden US Open title. This is Kerber's second Major title. She won the Australian Open this year. Pliskova, the runner up, had earlier defeated the likes of Venus Williams in quarter-finals and Serena Williams in semi-finals.In the Men's Doubles final, Brit Jamie Murray and his Brazilian partner Bruno Soares defeated the unseeded Spanish pair of Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-2, 6-3 to win the title.Meanwhile, World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic will clash with the 3rd seed Stanislas Wawrinka of Swiss in the men's singles final, later tonight.
