US President-elect Donald Trump has said German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a big mistake by allowing more than one million migrants into Germany. In an interview with British and German newspapers in New York, he said Mrs. Merkel is Europe's most important leader, and that the European Union had become a vehicle for Germany. <br/><br/>Giving details of his foreign policy goals, Mr Trump said the emphasis for his administration will be smart trade, rather than free trade. He said his priority is to create fairer trade deals for the United States and have strong borders. US had to address its trade deficit with the rest of the world, particularly with China, he said. <br/><br/>Asked about a possible deal with Russia, he said nuclear weapons should be part of it and reduced very substantially, in return for lifting US sanctions. On Middle East, he condemned the decision to invade Iraq in 2003 as possibly the worst decision ever made in the US history.
