Andy Murray wins Madrid Open title by defeating Rafael Nadal

Andy Murray has claimed his first victory over Rafael Nadal on clay to win the Madrid Masters Men's Singles Title. The Briton had never beaten Nadal in six previous meetings on the surface but won 6-3 6-2 to stun the home crowd last evening. Defending champion Nadal was aiming for a record fifth win in Madrid but Murray outclassed his Spanish opponent to lift his first Masters Tennis title on clay. Earlier Czech player Petra Kvitova defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia 6-1, 6-2 in the final on Saturday to lift the Women's Singles title of the tournament.Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna won his third title of the 2015 season and first with his new Romanian partner Florin Mergea as they lifted the Madrid Open trophy with a tense win over Nenand Zimonjic and Martin Matkowski yesterday. Bopanna and his partner saved a match point before overcoming the challenge of the fifth seeds 6-2 6-7 11-9 in one hour and 24 minutes in the final of the clay court Masters event. Bopanna had won two titles with Daniel Nestor in Sydney and Dubai at the start of the season before splitting with the Canadian.
