In Andhra Pradesh, the state owned Transport Corporation, APSRTC has announced a steep hike in its passenger fares. The hike is restricted to ordinary, express, deluxe and super luxury buses which are used by common man. AC buses, however, have been exempted from the hike. In a release, the Corporation said the hike has become inevitable in view of the additional burden to a tune of 358 crore rupees due to the recent hike in diesel prices. The revised fares ranging from 5 to 12 percent came into effect midnight last night.
