Andhra Pradesh HC cancels bail of IAS officer Srilakshmi

Andhra Pradesh High Court today cancelled the bail of the IAS officer Srilakshmi, an accused in the Obulapuram illegal mining case. The court directed her to surrender before the CBI special court before the 6th of this month. The state High Court gave this order on a CBI petition, challenging the special court's orders granting Srilakshmi bail last month. The central investigating agency has argued that the officer could influence the investigations. The court agreed with the CBI's argument that it was not proper to release Srilakshmi on bail when the investigations were on.The High Court on December 16, had cancelled the bail of Rajagopal, the former mines director of the state government. Rajagopal, former Karnataka Minister G. Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law BV Srinivasa Reddy are currently lodged in jail in the illegal mining case. Srilakshmi was granted bail by the CBI court on December 2, a day after she was sent to jail.
