Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has agreed to set up a House Committee to look into the alleged irregularities in land allotments to Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and infrastructure projects. Replying to a debate on the issue in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday evening, the last day of its budget session, the Chief Minister said a meeting of floor leaders would be held soon to decide the terms of reference of the House Committee. He also said the government is also preparing a transparent policy on land allotments to infrastructure projects and would be announced in a month or so. Stating that the land allotments and incentives are provided to SEZs aiming for better growth and employment opportunities, the Chief Minister said a total 42,107 acres land has been allotted to SEZs in the state. The proceedings of the Assembly have been stalled for the past 10 days on the opposition demand for setting up a Joint Legislature Committee to probe irregularities in land allotments.The Budget session of the Assembly, which began on 17th last month has come to a close with Deputy Speaker N Manohar adjourning the house sine die. The Assembly has passed the Annual Budget, demands for various heads and even the Appropriation Bill on voice vote without any discussion during its sittings for 29 days.
