In Andhra Pradesh, pomp and gaiety marked the Republic Day celebrations throughout the state. Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan hoisted the national flag and taken the salute at a main ceremonial parade held at parade Grounds in Secunderabad. In his address on the occasion, the Governor called upon people to shun violence in all forms and appealed to maintain peace and public order.
