The Andhra Pradesh government today ordered a magisterial inquiry into two boat tragedies in the state, which left 23 persons dead in West Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts. The government also announced an ex gratia of one lakh rupees for the kin of adults who were killed and 50,000 rupees each to the family members of the deceased children in both the mishaps.<br/><br/>Eleven pilgrims, including five children and as many women, were drowned when an overcrowded country-made boat overturned in Godavari river near Biyyaputippa in West Godavari district on the 30th of last month. Close on the heels of the incident, another boat mishap in Tandava reservoir on January 31 claimed the lives of 12 persons, including eight children.
