In Andhra Pradesh, 93 MLAs from Congress, Telugu Desam and Praja Rajyam Party have tendered their resignations protesting the Center’s decision to initiate process for separate Telangana state. They have tendered their resignations to Assembly speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Addressing a press conference, the speaker said he would talk to each member personally before taking final decision on the resignations. Stating that 53 Congress MLAs, 29 from TDP and 11 from Praja Rajyam have tendered their resignations, he said he would act as per the rule book on the resignations. While some members have tendered resignations personally while some faxed them, added<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Center’s decision on formation of Telanagana state has evoked mixed response among the people of the state. Protesting formation of Telangana state, demonstrations are being held across the coastal and Rayalaseema regions even as the Telangana sympathizers continuing celebrations across Telalngana Region including Hyderabad. Rallies and protests are being held at the university campuses in Visakhapatnam , Ananthpur and Tirupathi. At some places protests have taken a violent turn damaging public and private property. Traffic on the National Highways passing through the coastal and Rayalseema regions have come to a grinding halt with blockades erected by agitators.<br/><br/>Expressing concern over the centre’s decision, Congress LokSabha member L Raj Gopal and TDP floor leader in Rajya Sabha Mysoora Reddy have tendered resignations in Delhi.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Rosaiah convened cabinet meeting this evening to review the situation following the day-long hectic political developments. On the other hand, the TDP and Praja Rjyam Party also convened meetings of their highest political bodies to review the situation raised after centre’s statement on formation of separate Telangana state.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has convened a meeting of MPs from Andhra Pradesh this evening. Informed party sources said that the meeting has been held as the announcement of creation of a separate Telangana state has created strong backlash within the party in the state. <br/>The meeting follows the move from Congress MP from Vijayawada Mr. Lagadapati Rajagopal offering resignation to the speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar in protest of the decision. Party sources say many party members are unhappy with the decision. <br/>Reports from Hyderabad say that as many as 40 Congress MLAs have tendered their resignation in Andhra Pradesh. <br/>While, the BJP today urged the centre to come up with a roadmap for carving out the proposed state of Telangana. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, BJP spokesperson Mr. Venkaiah Naidu alleged that the ruling Congress party has not even taken its own members in confidence. When asked about the status of Hyderabad being included in Telangana, he evaded a direct reply and said that the decision is for the government to take. Replying to a question on the party’s stand on the demand of smaller states in some other parts of the country, Mr. Naidu said that the party will consider it on case to case basis.
