Andhra, Maharashtra CMs meet PM on Bhabvli Dam issue

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. K. Rossaiha and Maharashtra Chief Minster, Mr. Ashok Chavan today met the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in a bid to settle the dispute over Maharashtra's construction of Bhabli Dam over Godavari River in Nanded District of Maharashtra. Andhra Pradesh government is believed to have urged the Centre to prevail upon Maharashtra to remove the gates erected on the project in the meeting.The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday convened an All-Party meeting in Hyderabad to firm up a common strategy to deal with the issue.TDP President, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has also urged the UPA Chairperson, Ms. Sonia Gandhi to direct the Maharashtra government against what he called harming the interests of lower riparian states.
