In Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to postpone the elections to local bodies including Panchayats, Madal and Jilla Praja Parishads. State Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad on Thursday that a proposal to post pone the elections to the local bodies has been circulated and signed by the Ministers. Stating that an Ordinance to this affect would expected to be released at any time, the minister said the Government has proposed to postpone the elections to protect the interests of Backward Classes in the light of Supreme Court’s earlier ruling that the reservations should not exceed 50%. At present, total reservations for sections including BCs, SCs, STs and Backward Minorities were more than 50% in the state.
