Andhra govt initiates measures for implementing prison reforms

Andhra Pradesh Government has initiated measures for implementing prison reforms. The long-pending reforms got the go ahead signal today at the first meeting of he Prison Development Board Chaired by Chief Minister Rosaiah.<br/><br/>Briefing the media, state Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said under the reforms Small Business Units will be set to use the up services of the convicts in jails. It wil be Public Private Partnership move. <br/><br/>The convicts will be given vocational skills required for the business centres, which will double their daily wages. Those imprisoned up to 6 months will be deployed in social service such as cleaning roads, hospitals and schools. <br/><br/>A bill to this affect will be introduced in the next session of Assembly. Medical and other facilities to convicts will also be improved on implementation of the reforms.<br/>
