Andhra Pradesh Government has increased yarn subsidy and reintroduced thrift fund scheme for the benefit of weavers in the state. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has decided today at a high level review meeting to take a series of measure to benefit weavers. Accordingly, the Yarn subsidy has been raised to 20% from the present 10% benefiting 4 lakh weavers’ families.Power subsidy programme providing 50% subsidy has been revived and over 87 crore rupees has been released towards first installment of the loan waiver of total 312 crore rupees. Besides, subsidy up to Rs 800 per family on the silk yarn also has been announced benefiting one lakh families in view of soaring prices of silk yarn. A Thrift Fund Scheme which was closed by the Central Government has also been reintroduced.
