A delegation from Andhra Pradesh met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and demanded his intervention in Babhli barrage issue. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today led an all-party delegation to Prime Minister and asked him to direct the Maharashtra government to dismantle the gates installed at Babhli barrage and to take necessary action to put an end to the dispute. The delegation, which had representatives from all registered political parties in Andhra Pradesh, met Dr. Singh at his residence and proposed to him that he should call an urgent meeting of Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh to resolve the issue of Babhli barrage and 13 other barrages pertaining to Godavari river. They also urged him to personally intervene and take all possible measures to protect the interests of the lowest riparian state, Andhra Pradesh.
