Andhra CM Rosaiah resigns

In sudden development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today announced his decision to resign from his post. Addressing a packed press conference in Hyderabad a short while ago he announced his resignation. He later submitted his resignation letter to state governor E S L Narasimhan and urged him to accept immediately. Giving reasons for his resignation, he stated advancing age and increasing work pressure have been motives behind his sudden decision to quit his post. Mr Rosaiah said he has strived to fulfil the mandate given to him by the party high command in the adverse situation after demise of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He expressed satisfaction over his efforts to accomplish his responsibilities for the past 14 months. Earlier, an emergency meeting of Congress Legislative Party has been called by him this evening. AICC general Secretary in charge state affairs Veerappa Moily and senior leader of the party Pranab Mukharjee are attending the meeting. He has called this meeting last evening with in hours after coming back from Delhi where he held discussions with party senior leaders including disciplinary action committee chairman A K Antony.
