In Andhra Pradesh, an emergency meeting of the Congress Legislature Party has unanimously asked Party Chief Sonia Gandhi to nominate the next Chief Minister in place Rosaiah, who resigned on Wednesday. Announcing the decision of the meeting in Hyderabad, senior party leader Pranab Mukherjee said the meeting also passed a unanimous resolution thanking Rosaiah for the service rendered by him. The meeting was held amidst tight security arrangements at the Assembly Committee hall. AIR Correspondent said most of Congress MLAs were present in the meeting. Besides Pranab Mukharjee, Gulam Nabi Azad, A K Antony and AICC general Secretary in Charge of state Affairs M Veerappa Moily were also present. During the day, congress leaders from Telangana and from other regions of the state held hectic parleys separately. The parley began soon after Chief Minister Rosaiah announced his resignation at a press conference citing advancing age and work pressure as reasons. State Governor E S L Narasimhan has accepted the resignation and asked him to continue in the office till a new leader appointed.
