In Andhra Pradesh, the state-wide bandh called by Telugu Desam Party on Monday was total. Barring some minor incidents, it passed off peacefully. Protesting against the arrest of its fasting President Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP has called for the bandh. The left parties, CPI and CPM and farmers’ organisations have also extended support to the bandh. Chandrababu Naidu, who launched indefinite hunger strike last Friday demanding the Government to increase compensation to farmers, has been forcibly admitted to a hospital this morning in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Mr. Naidu has continued his hunger strike on teh fourth day today ever after forcibly admitted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad. In a open letter to farmers, he vowed to continue his stir until his demands for compensation for Farmers met. He was demanding a compensation of Rs 10000 per acre for paddy and Rs 15000 for commercial crops.On the other hand, Home Minister Sabith Indra Reddy has appealed to the opposition leader to end his stir as the Government had already announced a good package for farmers which no state in the country has implemented so far.
