Andhra Assembly Speaker accepts resignation of 2 TDP MLAs

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar has accepted the resignation tendered by two Telugu Desam Party MLAs late last evening. The MLAs had been suspended by the party earlier.Janardhana Reddy, elected from Nagarkurnool Constituency, had been suspended by TDP three months ago and tendered his resignation demanding statehood for Telangana last month. Besides, he filed a petition before the State High Court seeking direction to the Speaker to accept his resignation. However, the Speaker took decision before the Court took up the petition for hearing. Prasanna Kumar Reddy, elected from Kovur Constituency had quit protesting the inclusion of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's name in the CBI FIR in the case related to illegal wealth by Kadapa Lok Sabha Member Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The Speaker also issued a notification disposing of the petition filed by TDP seeking disqualification of Prasanna Kumar for acting against the party.Meanwhile, the final decision over 76 resignations tendered by MLAs belonged to Telangana region from different parties is still pending with the Speaker.
