Anderson beats Devvarman to win SA Open title

In Tennis, India's Somdev Devvarman failed to win his first ATP World Tour title yesterday as he lost to the fourth-seed, Kevin Anderson of South Africa in the finals of the ATP South African Open at Johannesburg. The reigning Commonwealth Games and Asian Games champion lost 6-4, 3-6, 2-6 to Anderson, who after losing the first set bounced back strongly to win his first ATP World Tour title. This was Somdev's second defeat in the title-round of an ATP event. He lost to Marin Cilic of Croatia in the finals of the Chennai Open in 2009. Somdev will however get a boost in the ATP ranking as he earned 150 ranking points and also pocketed 40,300 US Dollars as prize money for his runners-up position.
