The Lok Sabha was informed today that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Protection of Aboriginal Tribes Amendment Regulation of 2012 has now come into force. The legislation was promulgated by the President in July this year. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Administration has since closed down seven tourist hubs in the Buffer Zone to protect the aboriginal tribes.
