Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Education dept orders not to charge additional fees to safeguard interest of students

In order to safeguard the interest of students, parents and staff of unaided private schools of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, an order not to charge any fees except tuition fees has been issued by the Education Department. Further, fees cannot be hiked for the academic session 2020-2021. School Management are asked to collect the tuition fees on monthly basis instead of quarterly basis. No extra financial burden can be put by creating any new head of fee.<br />''<br />''Schools are asked to provide digital education facility to all students without any discrimination and they cannot deny, in case, if a student is unable to pay the fee due to financial crisis.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, the payment of monthly salaries to teaching and non-teaching staff is neither be stopped nor be reduced. Any kind of violation, if comes to notice action can be taken under IPC and Section 51-B of NDMA 2005.<br />''<br />''These schools are not supporting the students to maintain their continuity in educational activities during the lockdown. The Education Department has been informed by parents, staff of these unaided private schools about their miseries regarding payment of fees due to closure of business activities and non- payment of salaries. Acting upon the situation the department has issued the order under Section 39-I of the act.<br />
