Andaman and Nicobar Islands: Active COVID cases reach 479

In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the cases of Covid-19 are soaring high. The total tally of active cases has reached 479. Out of the total active cases 475 are in South Andaman district only. While Nicobar has three cases and one case is in North and Middle Andaman district. As per the official data there are three Omicron cases detected till date.<br />'' <br />''During the last 4-5 days, an unprecedented growth in Covid-19 cases has been recorded. Yesterday, 108 new cases were reported while 41 patients discharged. A major chunk is being reported among airport arrivals. It is to mention, that negative RTPCR report is essentially required to land in Port Blair since Jan. 5th. Amid surge in Covid-19 cases, the surveillance and monitoring work of ILI and SARI cases are being done through door to door survey.<br />'' <br />''As per informed by Nodel Officer, Covid-19, most of the patients who found positive are asymptotic or having mild symptoms. So far no death has been recorded in third wave. Flying squad consist of police and revenue officials formed to ensure Covid Appropriate Behavior at public places. Fines on violation have also been increased. Rs. 1000 to be paid for not covering the face at public places.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, to restrict the movement, night curfew has been imposed. All tourists spots are also closed. Temples are closed for public worship alongwith parks, gyms etc. Schools and colleges have also shut down. Any kind of gathering or congregation prohibited in the islands. Ferries and public transport are to be operated with 70% of total carrying capacity.</span><br />
