In Andaman and Nicobar, world tourism day is celebrated with great enthusiasm in different tourist spots across the islands. A variety of programmes are being orgainsed at port Blair. A variety of programmes are with special focus on this year’s theme ‘ Tourism and Bio diversity. Andamans is one of the rich bio-diversity hot spots of the world. The islands administration takes many initiatives to promote the tourism industry here without affecting fragile ecology of these islands. Talking to AIR news on this important occasion, the Director of Tourism shri Binay Booshan informed that the islands administration makes all out efforts to make these emerald islands a 365 day destination. He said services of Sea plane will be launched in these islands very soon to attract more tourists. As part of the world tourism day celebrations, different competitions were held for the students and islanders. At Port Blair's Veersavarkar airport, the tourism department greeted the visitors coming from different parts of the country with flowers. In the evening, a grand cultural programme reflecting the multifaceted culture of the people here will be held. The islands Chief Secretary will inaugurate the programme.
