In Andaman and Nicobar, colourful events filled with patriotic fervour were held in view of the Republic DayIn Port Blair, Lt Governor Lt Gen AK Singh unfurled the National Flag at the historic Netaji Stadium on the occasion of the 66th Republic Day of India. While listing out the achievements of the Administration, he said though Andaman and Nicobar is being viewed as a strategic outpost, it can develop into a strategic springboard for taking forward the nation’s ‘Look East, Act East’ foreign policy, and gain prominence.The colourful march past by the Defence, Police and student contingents and the artistic tableaux and cultural extravaganza enthralled the audience. Patriotic fervour filled the air throughout the Islands. Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor paid homage at the Martyr’s Column in the National Memorial Cellular Jail.
