In Andaman and Nicobar islands, the 62nd Republic Day is being celebrated all over the region with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The Lt Governor, Lt Gen Bhopindher Singh unfurled the national flag at the historic Netaji Stadium and took the salute. Thousand of people in the stadium witnessed the impressive march past by the military contingents, spectacular fly past by Coast Guard helicopters and colourful cultural programmes by the students. Addressing the islanders, the Lt Governor said major steps are taken to make these islands as an eco-friendly international tourist destination.
