Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde apologised in the Lok Sabha today for his remarks against the Constitution. <br/><br/>In the wake of Opposition protests over his comments, Mr Hegde said his statement was twisted but if it has hurt the feelings of the people, he apologises for it. <br/><br/>The Minister said, he respects the Constitution, Parliament and Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar. He said, the Constitution is supreme for him and as a citizen, he can never go against it.<br/><br/>Since yesterday, Congress members have been protesting against the remarks in and outside Parliament. The government has already distanced itself from Mr Hegde's reported remarks saying it does not subscribe them.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice today, first till noon and later till 2 PM, following uproar by the Opposition over Mr Hegde's reported remarks. <br/><br/>The Congress members demanded the Minister's resignation. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel said, he has already clarified his stand and regretted in the Lok Sabha as well as outside the House.
