Sri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and Sri Nainadevi temple in Himachal Pradesh will be connected through rope way. A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed by the state governments of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in Shimla today in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Prakash Singh Badal and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minster Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal. The project is aimed at providing better facilities to pilgrims and boost religious tourism in the region. The two holy shrines are located at a distance of about 20 kms. About 70 lakh pilgrims visit Sri Nainadevi temple every year, about 90% of them come from Sri Anandpur Sahib side.The 3.75 km. rope way to be established through Public Private Partnership (PPP) is likely to be completed in three years. Its construction entails a cost of 85 crore rupees. The ropeway would have a capacity to cater to at least 800 persons per hour per direction.
