Anand, Svidler draw in 8th round of Alekhine Memorial Chess tournament

World champion Viswanathan Anand was held to a draw by Russian Peter Svidler in the eighth round of Alekhine Memorial Chess tournament yesterday. In the event being held at St. Petersburg, Russia, Anand now holds the joint second spot with the last round yet to to be played. So far, the Indian has collected four and a half points. In the final round, Anand is to play against Boris Gelfand of Israel. At present, Gelfand is the sole leader with five points in the 10-player round-robin Super Chess tournament.
