Former world champion Viswanathan Anand has surrendered his lead in the Candidates Masters tournament after losing a crunch game against Fabiano Caruana of United States. In the Round 10 match in Moscow tonight, Anand playing with black could not overcome the early advantage seized by Caruana through a temporary bishop sacrifice. With this loss, Anand has slipped to shared third place with just four rounds remaining. Caruana and Sergey Karjakin of Russia share the lead. They are one-point ahead of Anand and Levon Aronian.The winner of Candidates tournament will be the Challenger to to Magnus Carlsen of Norway for the world title.
